Technically, Tootsie is not considered a “hermaphrodite” at all.  The term “hermaphrodite” had previously referred to someone or something with both male and female genetalia, but in our more politically correct/equality essential culture, the term “hermaphrodite” has been replaced by the term “intersex”. Think Old/New like Oriental/Asian, Gay Lover/Significant Other, and finally Hermaphrodite/Intersex.  The world is now a better and more tolerant place for Tootsie.

Equality essential.  I like that.  Is that nomenclature official?
